A ritzy restaurant in New York has introduced the world’s most expensive sandwich on the occasion of their national sandwich day.

The Serendipity restaurant in New York City is the proud owner of the new Guinness World Record for making the Quintessential Grilled Cheese Sandwich. The cheese toastie is gold-plated, costs a whopping $214 and takes an order of two days in advance!

The final touches include a tomato and lobster bisque served in a crystal glass and then, the sandwich is plated in 23 carat gold.
