Ropai observed on Asadh 15 is indeed always a special day for people all over Nepal as that’s when the season for paddy plantation commences. While most of us were celebrating the occasion, also by having curd and beaten rice (Dahi-chiura), patients at the Disability Welfare Centre at Balaju had a celebration of a different sort.
Coinciding with the National Paddy Day, Bandipur Family-Finland presented two differently able patients at the welfare centre with wheelchairs through Furtemba Sherpa Foundation’s Giving The Gift of Mobility program. The organisation has been assisting 21 differently able people so far and the wheelchairs were granted under the direction of Mahesh Thapa Magar. The program took place while everyone was savouring the dish of the day- curd with beaten rice.
Assisting the needy by providing wheelchairs for the past 3 years, Furtemba Sherpa Foundation’s Furtemba Sherpa promised assistance of three more wheelchairs to the centre.
