The US Embassy in Kathmandu has introduced new visa application procedures for fee payment, appointment and document delivery service for the non-immigrant visa unit.
The office has joined U.S. Embassies and Consulates in over 120 countries around the world in using a new, on-line system to apply and pay for U.S. tourist, business, student and other non-immigrant visas, and to make interview appointments, effective from Monday, 15 September.
According to statement released Sunday (September 14, 2014), this new system will allow travelers to view available appointments and choose the interview date and time that best fits their schedule.
Travelers will be able to choose one of six locations across Nepal to pick up their passport and visa after a successful interview. In addition to the on-line system, there will be a new call center, available without charge from 8:00 am to 8:00 pm, to answer travelers’ questions about the non-immigrant visa process.
However, there will be no change to the Embassy’s procedures for handling immigrant and diversity visas, adds the statement.
“Travelers who have already submitted a visa application, paid the fee, and arranged an interview appointment through Nabil Bank should complete the visa process under the current system.”
