As predicted, the maoist bandh has struck the country today (November 11, 2013) opposing to the CA Election that is going to be held on November 19, 2013 (Mangsir 4, 2070).
The banda enforcers affiliated to the 33-party alliance torched a passenger bus for defying banda in Dhulikhel, on Sunday morning (September 15, 2013). According to police, passengers of the bus, however, managed to escape unharmed before a fire engulfed the bus.
44 different parties, including Mohan Baidhya’s CPN-Maoist, Upendra Yadav’s Madhesi Janadhikar Forum-Nepal and Ashok Rai’s Sanghiya Samajwadi Party jointly imposed a nationwide bandh on June 16, Sunday.
Twenty-two political parties, including the CPN-Maoist and other fringe parties enforced a bandh in Kathmandu Valley on Thursday (March 14, 2013) from 12:00 noon- 5:00 pm (later moved from 1:00 pm-6:00 pm) in protest of the formation of an election government under the chief justice.
The nationwide bandh enforced by CPN-Maoist hampered normal life all across the country, including the Kathmandu Valley, on Tuesday (February 19). The closure was imposed in protest of the main political parties’ decision to form a poll government under the leadership of sitting chief justice.
Nepali cinema halls have decided to stop showing Hindi films from Monday. The decision comes a few days after CPN-Maoist decided to ban screening of Hindi movies across the country.
