Student unions have staged demonstrations all over the nation on Friday (January 20) against the price hike of petroleum products.
Police arrested six, including president of Free Student’s Union, in Kathmandu as the scheduled examination of Rural Development and Population Studies was cancelled at RR College, Exhibition Road.
Raj Kumar Rai, FSU president at RR, was arrested along with Kashi Lamichhane, Manoj Dhital, Purushottam Sapkota, Sri Krishna Upreti and RC Lamichhane during demonstration at Exhibition Road.
The students claimed that Upreti and Lamichhane were injured as police clashed with students.
According to Rudra Khadka, RR Campus chief, the conducting examination became impossible after police entered the campus premises in the morning in search of demonstrating students.
12 students unions jointly called for demonstration throughout the nation on Friday.
All educational institutions in Janakpur are closed while students in Pokhara obstructed Pokhara-Baglung Highway.
