The School Leaving Certificate (SLC) examinations 2070 took off at 8:00 am as scheduled on Thursday (March 20, 2014) across
the country with the English paper.
A total of 566,085 examinees, 419,352 regular and 146,733 exempted, are set to appear in the examination this year. This is an increase of 54,920 students compared to last year. The 10th grade exams are being conducted in 1,836 exam centres.
According to the Office of the Controller of Examinations (OCE), Sanothimi, Bhaktapur, the preparations for this year’s SLC examinations have been completed.
“All preparations are complete to begin the examinations,” said Controller at the OCE Bishnu Bahadur Dware. He said that over 53,000 people have been deployed for the examination.
The OCE has taken strict measures to ensure that the exams are held in safe condition without any chances of cheating taking place. The OCE has also directed all district education committees to cancel the exam papers if any foul play is found during the exams. If any student or teacher is found to violate exam rules, the OCE will fine them Rs 100,000 and face them with six-month imprisonment.
The written exam will end on Chaitra 14, 2070 (March 28, 2014) and the viva/orals and practicals will be held on Chaitra 15 or later as per the exam schedule.
