Nepathya’s ‘Shanti Ko Laagi Sikchya’ regaled the audience including teachers, students among others at Himalaya Higher Secondary School, Damak, 4 kilometers far from the highway, as the band performed their evergreen hits including “Chekyo Chekyo Deaurali Dada”, “Chari Maryo Sisaiko Golile” and others, started with a Gurung song ‘Naashe Chyaba’ on December 10.
The school was taken aback by the sudden arrival of Nepathya team and was greeted with garlands and applauses by children and teachers. The team explored newly constructed buildings and other accomplishments that were possible after the contribution to the school from the same tour that took place years before.
According to Bidur Khatiwada, Former Principal of the School, the amount raised by the program “Shantiko Lagi Shikchya” about 9 years ago was utilized for infrastructural development of the school with the help of Damak Jaycees. ‘Back then, the school was aided by the band with significant contribution through the proceedings of their musical journey’, said Khatiwada. He added, ‘ the fund raised for the second time with same program in 2006, was utilized to make the second building.’
The number of school students now has increased from one thousand to 19 hundred. ‘Today, parents lobbies a lot with us for admitting their students in the school because the school is regarded as the best and the credit goes to Nepathya’, adds Khatiwada.
Initiated since 2002, the venture “Shanti ko lagi Shikshya 2013” is Nepathya’s fifth sequel which is taking place at 10 different spots of the nation, this year.
