There has been entry of two short and two feature films from Nepal at the SAARC Film Festival 2013 which will be taking place in Colombo, Sri Lanka from May 26-31. Feature films 75 minute long Sweekar and 88 minute long Boksi as well as two documentaries Wake Up and Kaagaj will be screened at the event.
Wake Up and Kaagaj are scheduled to be screened on May 27, Sweekar on May 29 and Boksi will be shown on May 30. Revolving around the subject of caste discrimination prevailing in the family, Sweekar has been directed by Rabiraj Aryal and stars Resh Marhatta, American actress Carla, and Rajesh Dhungana among others.
Directed by Gopal Chandra Lamichhane, Boksi is based on social evils. Having screened for various charity programs, the film is yet to be released officially.
A presentation of Banner Mountain Reverse Films, Wake Up has been helmed by Utpal Jha while Nilu Doma Sherpa has directed Kaagaj under the banner of Nepal’s Most Desirable.
