Nepal’s hydro-power project gets NRs 1.7bn loan from China

Ministry of Energy, NepalThe Export-Import Bank of China has agreed to provide Nepal government a NRs 1.7bn (US$23.22m) loan for construction of Upper Trishuli-2 hydroelectric project which has a potential output of 60MW.

Secretary Krishna Hari Baskota and Li Jun, the vice-president of Export-Import Bank of China signed the agreement yesterday at ministry of Finance.

The loan will be used to for the implementation of the Kathmandu 220 kv transmission line and the 132 kv bay extension works of the project.

The construction of the Upper Trishuli 3A project in Rasuwa district is being undertaken by the Monistry of Energy and the Nepal Electricity Authority. It is expected to be completed by May 2014.
