Looking at their recent performances, a bright future can definitely be ascertained for the Nepal national cricket team. And the team has earned another proud moment after beating their arch-rival Uganda by 62 runs, becoming the champion of ICC World Cricket League Division 3, held at Kinrara Oval in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on Thursday (October 30, 2014).
Elected to bat first after winning the toss, Nepal performed brilliantly restricting Uganda to 161 runs in 44.1 overs, with Bhuwan Karki grabbing 4 wickets conceding 39 runs in 8-over spell. Basanta Regmi took 2 wickets giving away 29 runs while Sagar Pun, Shakti Gauchan and Sompal Kami picked 1 wicket each leading Nepal to victory.
Nepal scored 223 runs in total after losing all the wickets in 49.4 overs. Three Nepali batsmen completed half century. Openers Naresh Budayair and Sagar Pun scored 51 and 64 runs respectively. Similarly , Vice captain Gyanendra Mall played 56 run knock.
It is indeed a case of history repeating as Uganda faced a similar defeat against Nepal during the final match of Division 3 last year.
