Whether a die hard momo lover or not, it was a total feast for Kathmanduites on Saturday, 10 March! That’s when The Bakery Cafe Momo Mania 2012 took place at Bhrikuti Mandap ground!
The biggest momo party in the country is an annual event organised by probably the biggest restaurant chain, The Bakery Cafe. At the festival, one could have as many momos as possible from 22 varieties of momos plus numerous types of sauces and chutneys. Along with great food, people also enjoyed other exciting activities such as face painting, momo making competition and momo eating competition. The organisers also gave away massive door prizes from lucky draw.
On its 11th year, Momo Mania got even bigger and better with breathtaking stage performances from Kutumba, The Everest Crew B-boys, Subima Shrestha and Ang Babu Lama. The crowd was left amazed by the music provided by the indigenous musical ensemble while the B-boys and Katthak dancer Shrestha showed off their skills. A mash up of Katthak and beatboxing was one of the highlights at the event. Lama did a good job of performing wusu in Kutumba’s music. There was also lakhey dance and performance by Ason Baja: Khala. In the end, all of them collaborated for one mind blowing gig.
