A man in Dhankuta mistook his own friend as porcupine and shot him dead on Saturday night (January 4, 2013).

Surendra Limbu, 25, of Basantatar VDC, opened the fire at Aita Raj Limbu, 24, wrongly believing him to be porcupine.

According to police, the incident took place as both Surendra and Aitaraj had gone to local Ramite Jungle for hunting porcupines. “I saw some movement in the trees and fired in that direction thinking that it was porcupine,” police quoted Surendra as saying during the interrogation.

Surendra surrendered in front of police after returning from jungle.
