The entire media fraternity in the country has been shaken up by the death of a journalist. Jhapa-based journalist working for the Avenues Television and the Rajdhani daily, Yadav Paudel was brutally murdered in Birtamode Tuesday night (April 3).
According to national daily Republica, police recovered Paudel´s body from the porch of Purbanchal Sekuwa Corner at new bus park in Birtamod early Wednesday morning with right hand fractured and blood coming out of his head. His ribs are also reportedly broken with serious chest injury and smashed liver. Primary investigations have revealed that Paudel, was thrown from the top of the three-story building after thrashing him.
The paper further states that eyewitnesses said six motorcycle-borne unidentified persons killed Paudel. The police are yet to know the motive of the murder but said it was done in a planned manner.
This disheartening incident has brought the country’s press freedom into question. Hence, fellow journalists took to the road in Dang to protest Paudel’s murder on Wednesday.
38-year-old Paudel had been pursuing journalism as a career in Jhapa for over a decade.
