It was a dream come true for many Harry Potter fans in Kathmandu when the author of the acclaimed series arrived in the capital on Friday (20 March, 2015). JK Rowling had flown to Nepal along with her family in a private jet.
Rowling was in the valley to participate in a programme organised by Kathmandu-based The British School in Jhamiskhel for the school’s book week. The famed writer of the novel about a boy wizard read out an excerpt from the series’ first book, Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone to a captivated audience of over 400.
During the event, Rowling interacted with the students and then answered questions from the audience according to an article posted on Ekantipur.com.
The British novelist’s Harry Potter series, which have also been adapted into movies, have gained worldwide attention, won multiple awards, and sold more than 400 million copies.
