After launching the Android One initiative earlier this year in India, Google has announced that the program is being expanded to cover Bangladesh, Nepal and Sri Lanka. The Android One devices are expected to go on sale in these countries over the coming weeks.
The premise behind Android One is to provide affordable hardware from local vendors, with Google controlling the software side of things. Currently, Indian vendors Micromax, Spice and Karbonn have launched devices under the initiative, and the upcoming launch in Bangladesh will see the introduction of local vendor Symphony’s handset.
