Organised by Nepal Federation of Photo Journalists (NFPJ), an umbrella organisation of all the photo journalists associated with different media, Photo Concern NFPJ Photo Fair-2069 was held at the Nepal Art Council, Babarmahal from September 28 to 30.
The three-day expo, targeted towards all sorts of photography enthusiasts, aimed to give basic information on the Nepali arts, costumes, natural beauty, and cultures as well as photo journalism through photo exhibition.
The event was titled ‘Sundar Nepal Shanta Nepal’ (Beautiful Nepal, Peaceful Nepal) and showcased about 189 photographs by 79 photo journalists on various topics ranging from natural beauty, culture, costumes, to Nepali arts.
The best three among all the submitted photos were also awarded at the program inaugurated by Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai. The winners were independent photo journalist Om Lal Akela, Annapurna Post photographer Birgunj branch Ram Sharaf and independent photographer Sushil Shrestha who placed first, second and third respectively.
A photography workshop was one of the highlights of the expo from which beginners, students of photojournalism and other aspirants could benefit.
Other attractions of the photo fair were stalls for modern cameras and books on photography and the screening of a documentary about photography.
