The CPN-UML party’s rally this morning has disrupted the valley’s traffic. CPN-UML is organizing a three day ‘National Representative Council Meeting’ in the capital from today. According to CPN-UML officials, the party expects 200,000 people from across the country to attend the party’s meeting. Hundreds of thousands of party cadres took out rallies from various points of the capital and traffic was halted across the city from 11am to 1pm.
Ratnapark was shut down in the morning as party cadres began walking towards the Open Air Theatre and public vehicles were not allowed to enter inside the Ring Road area. The Metropolitan Traffic Police Division informed the media that it has already planned alternative routes for vehicles today.
According to political analysts, CPN-UML plans to show its strength in the grassroots level and has brought in hundreds of thousands of cadres from villages into the city. The ‘National Representative Council’ is the second most-power body in the party and sets the party policy and has the mandate to take action against the party leadership as well.
