Switzerland and the Asian Development Bank (ADB) have agreed to provide US$25 million to Nepal for the second phase of Decentralized Rural Infrastructure and Livelihood Project. Both donors signed separate agreements with the Government of Nepal yesterday at the Ministry of Finance.
According to the Ministry of Finance, US$18 million is loan assistance and the remaining is grant assistance. The project’s objective is to enhance the mobility of rural people and ensure their easy access in economic and social sector activities. The project has been implemented in 18 rural districts of Nepal.
The project will also construct 260 kilometers of roads and will help the District Development Committees (DDCs) to maintain 1,200 kilometers of roads in the country, with active participation of the rural communities.
