School teachers in Baglung have shut down all private and public academic institutions today to protest the murder of a local school teacher. Bhakta Bahadur Chhetri, a teacher at Radkhani Higher Secondary School in Kusimshera, Baglung was found murdered yesterday.
The strike has been called by Nepal Teachers Association, Baglung and supported by other teacher unions affiliated to major political parties. They have demanded stern action against the guilty and due compensation for the victim’s family.
According to the District Police Office, Baglung, four people have been detained for their involvement in the Chhetri’s murder. Chhetri was also the district chairman of the Chhetri Samaj, an ethnic front.
