Tarun Dal , a sister organization of Nepali Congress shut down the capital and Chitwan today after the Chitwan chairman of Tarun Dal died Friday night at Neuro Hospital Kathmandu.
Poudel was severely injured inside the Bharatpur jail during a brawl two weeks ago. He was in prison for the death of a Youth Force cadre. Youth Force is a sister organization of CPN-UML.
Without any announcement, the Nepali Congress cadres shut down the capital today leaving thousands of people without any public transportation. Nepali Congress has also called for a nation shutdown on Monday.
Nepali Congress cadres burnt tyres, trees and vandalized buses creating havoc in the capital while Nepal Police acted as mute spectators while life was paralyzed in the valley.
The government has formed a three-member judicial commission to probe attack on Poudel and has agreed to provide Rs 1 million as compensation to Poudel’s family. The government has also requested Nepali Congress to call off Monday’s Nepal bandh.
