The Senior Source and Dallas Fort Worth Asian-American Citizens Council
to Announce CollaborationThe Senior Source and the Dallas Fort Worth Asian-American Citizens Council (DFWAACC) will sign an agreement to forge a partnership between the two organizations at a reception scheduled for 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, September 1, 2009 at The Senior Source, 3910 Harry Hines Boulevard in Dallas.
The objective of the partnership is to promote quality services for the senior Asian-American community through shared cooperation and support. With a growing Asian-American older adult population in north Texas, the collaboration brings multiple benefits. “Thousands of Asian-American older adults in our community are dealing with the age-related issues – whether they are caregivers for family members, seeking employment, needing prescription drug assistance, or they simply want to give their time volunteering,” says Molly H. Bogen, executive director of The Senior Source. “We welcome this partnership because we believe that The Senior Source will be a viable resource to families and seniors in the Asian community for information and assistance on aging issues and access to a variety of volunteer opportunities.” Similarly, the Asian-American Citizens Council will assist The Senior Source by promoting services and opportunities through appropriate communication channels and facilitating introductions to community leaders and programs.
The Senior Source, a United Way partner agency, has served older adults in the greater Dallas area since 1961. Through eight programs, the nonprofit organization supports nursing home residents, assists family members in caring for loved ones, provides help with money management, educates the community on issues affecting the elderly and matches active retirees with volunteer and employment opportunities. The DFWAACC is a nonprofit organization whose membership is comprised of professionals and leaders from the general Asian community and major Asian American organizations. Our affiliated members include major Asian American organizations such as The Greater Dallas Asian American Chamber of Commerce, The Asian American Forum and the All Asian American Chamber of Commerce in Ft. Worth. For additional information, visit http://www.dfwaacc.org
