Chevrolet literally “launched” its newest small car, the Sonic – by tying the sub-compact to a bungee chord and rolling it off a ten-story structure at the Long Beach Convention Center. It is the first digital launch of a vehicle in Chevrolet’s 100 year history.
Sonic, which is the only small car made in America, will also drop into dealerships this fall with an entry sale price of $14, 495. The Sonic’s 1.4L turbo with the six-speed manual achieves an EPA highway fuel economy of 40 mpg, making it one of the most fuel-efficient small cars in the market.
The Sonic bungee jump is part of Chevrolet’s “Let’s Do This” campaign primed to appeal to young U.S. consumers who are experiencing many “firsts” in life: first car, first job, etc. Consumers can view video of the bungee jump along with other planned Sonic stunts at http://www.letsdothis.com
