Five Indian nationals were arrested by the armed police force customs battalion in Biratnagar. They had entered Nepal carrying arms and were caught during a checking carried out at the number two check point of Rani border transit on Saturday (June 7, 2014) evening.
Those arrested are Ranjit Chaudhary,42, Sanjaya Raya,27, Shantipur Mahato,27, Bibek Singh,36 and Ashish Gupta of Poornia, Bihar of India.
One of the detainees Sanjaya was found carrying an Italian-made 7.65 mm pistol along with 10 rounds of ammunition.
Police also recovered Indian currency 100,000 of 500 denomination and 11,000 of 1000 denomination from them.
They were traveling in a micro van (BR11T2465) and called themselves as proprietors of Mahindra Distributors in Poornia, Bihar.
The armed police has handed them over to Nepal Police for necessary action.
