Famed Nepali folk singer/musician Khemraj Gurung passed away at the Chabahil-based Medicare National Hospital and Research Centre on Thursday (August 25, 2016) at 42. Gurung is best known for his popular song ‘Ekadashi Bajaraima (Wari jamuna, pari jamuna)’.
Gurung, who was suffering from jaundice and other liver-related ailments, was being treated in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the hospital for past 11 days, according to Ratna Gurung, nephew of the singer.
Condolences from celebrities have been pouring in on the social media for his untimely demise.
As informed by the source, his funeral will be held after the arrival of Gurung’s mother and sister from the United Kingdom. Till then, the body will be kept at the Maharajgunj-based Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital.
Gurung was famous for his folk and folk-pop songs. Some of his albums were Dharan-Pokhara, Soaltee, Ghumphir, Aaloo Tama and Anamol among others.
