Dr Govinda KC has called off his hunger strike on the 16th day on Monday (July 25, 2016). KC had been staging a fast-unto-death demanding reforms in the medical education sector and impeachment of Chief Commissioner of the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA).
Following the signing of the four-point agreement between KC and the government on Sunday evening, the senior orthopedic surgeon broke his hunger strike.
KC called off his fast-unto-death and was served soup by five-year-old patient Saroj Nepal, monk Thobang Norbu Lama and Anita Devi Mahato at Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital (TUTH) in the afternoon.
KC signed the agreement paper at the room where he had been staging his 16-day-long hunger strike in the TUTH premises at 10:30 pm yesterday.
Dr Govinda KC has agreed to end his fast-unto-death after the government agreed to acquire the controversial Manmohan Medical College and fulfill his other demands.
