The 4th Dashain Cup 2015 was held in Grapevine, Texas on October 11, 2015 and the final game was won by Dallas Gurkhas Green who beat Everest Soccer Team 5-0.
A total of 18 teams from four different states participated in the tournament each of whose matches’ duration spanned for 40 minutes. The winning team walked away with a cash prize of $2300 and trophies which were presented by the Chief Guest of the event Umesh Pradhan. Legendary Nepali football player Pradhan, who has been a coach as well, was honored by a token of love from the President of Nepali society of Texas Bhuwan Acharya on behalf of the organizer Dallas Gurkhas FC. Transportation and lodging were provided to the teams participating from outside of Texas.
The event saw a huge turnout of audience, which included personalities from different fields, supporting the growing craze of Nepali Football in the state of Texas. Hitting the stage with a great musical performance was DJ Momo from WIZ entertainment. Not only did he manage to pump the players and audience but also made everyone feel like home and provided the joy of Dashain festival. The DJ was also honored with an appreciation trophy for his continuous support in the society by Acharya. Rajendra Thapa, a senior player of Dallas Gurkhas and an Assistant Coach, handed the trophies to the referees to show appreciation.
Event coordinator Binod Bista expressed his gratitude to everyone who helped make the event a grand success and promised to return next year with a bigger and better 5th annual Dashain Cup.
