Calling all talented young artists to participate in a graphics art competition! National Graphic Arts Contest 2014 is collaboratively organised by City Museum Kathmandu (CMK) and Society of Graphic Arts.
Aiming to foster the art community in Nepal and also to promote graphic arts, the deadline to submit works for the competition is February 20.
Submissions for the competition can be graphic design in a magazine layout or an album cover, hand lettering and typography, poster art, comic art, illustrations, collage, and altered photographs.
Only Nepali artists are encouraged to take part in the contest with submission files in jpeg and less than 5MB each. Five submissions per applicant and both unpublished and published works are accepted.
Prizes for the winners include a cash prize of Rs 25,000. A week long exhibition will be held in March where the works of the winners and some selected submissions will be displayed.
The competition will be judged by Sahara Shrestha, graphic designer and founder of Society of Graphic Arts, Nepal; Sam Hodges, British graphic designer who has most recently worked on projects for Coldplay and Rihanna; Prachin Siddhi, illustrator; and Gabriella Cetrulo, an American illustrator.
The most popular work, voted by the public, will be given the People’s Choice Award.
As stated in the press release, the public will have to vote for their favorite artwork on CMK’s social media platforms.
