One of the best and the highly anticipated summer outdoor festivals in the country, the 7th annual Sundance Music Festival took place successfully last weekend at The Last Resort from March 24-25.
The two-day event, scheduled to happen every last weekend of April, occurred earlier this year and even saw numerous international as well as local artists come together to perform on one stage. Singer Marlos Oudman from Holland, a collaborative project of Norwegian group and the members of Kathmandu Jazz Conservatory (KJC), Nepali band SLC (Street Life Collective), Willamette Underground, Joint Family International, and 1974AD among others entertained the crowd with an amazing assortment of musical genres while DJ Phuchey made sure everyone danced till they sweat. Other individual singers and acoustic bands also performed at the festival. The organisers took the outstanding presentation to another level by showcasing fire dance tricks.
The resort, situated on the high cliff-top gorge above Bhote Koshi River, was abuzz with hundreds of participants who all arrived by bus from Kathmandu. Both tourists and locals engaged themselves in various indulgences as offered by the festival. It was non-stop fun at the place famous for bungee, canyon swing and rafting for which the attendees lined up to try.
Overall, the experience at Sundance was a combination of awesome music, thrilling sports, great food, drinks and camping. The weather also remained cool throughout the festival.
