Six people died and over two dozens were injured in road accident at Amlekhgaunj along the East-West Highway on Wednesday morning.
The accident occurred after a bus, Na 4 Kha 1544, bound to Hetauda from Birgunj, collided head-on with a truck, Na 3 Kha 6585, and a tanker, Na 2 Kha 8711, coming from the opposite direction along the Pathlaiya-Hetauda road section this morning.
According to SSP Manoj Neupane, Chief of Narayani Zonal Police Office, the deceased have been identified as Kunta Dahal of Manaharwa-7, Bara, Laxmi Tamang and her 12-year-old son Prabesh Tamang of Dhading, bus driver Sarbajit Yadav of Buniya VDC and helper Amrit Kumar Sah of Khatuwa Pasauni of Bara district. Sah breathed his last in course of treatment at Narayani Sub Regional Hospital.
The identity of 1 dead is yet to be ascertained.
Among the injured, 15 have been rushed to Chitwan-based Bharatpur Hospital, 9 others are undergoing treatment at Narayani Sub Regional Hospital in Birgunj, while 1 has been sent to Kathmandu.
The police have taken the truck and its driver under control and investigating into the case.
