The sudden thunder storm and lightning for the past few days have not been helping, affecting various parts of the country including Kaski district where severe calamities have killed lives. Due to continuous lightning and rolling down of the melting snow, a massive flood has been caued in the Seti River on Saturday morning (May 5). The flood triggered by a slide of large masses of snow and ice coming down from the Annapurna Mountain range has killed at least ten people. Police confirmed the recovery of eight bodies including those of two women and one foreign tourist this early afternoon. The death toll is expected to reach more numbers.
More than two dozen others including three Russian nationals have gone missing in the avalanche-caused flood and it is affrighting more people after entering the Pokhara Valley through Ramghat.
Locals dwelling on the banks of Seti River have been left with no other options than to feel the terror as the floodwater entered from Kharapani –where flood swept away three women whose identity is yet to be ascertained, destroyed riverside huts, suspension bridges, trees, and vegetations—to Pokhara, said Mekh Bahadur Gurung of Kharapani.
