ANA SUPERNOVA KIDS TALENT SHOW 2012 was successfully organized on Friday, June 29, 2012 – the first day of 30th ANA Convention at Trinity Hall of Hilton Anatole Hotel. 33 contestants between the ages of 6 to 19 showcased their talents and wooed the audience and the judges.
The contestants sang, danced, played instrumental music, and also performed a skit. The judges for the contest was Mr. Tsewang Sherpalama, Interim President of ANA; Ms. Nalina Chitrakar, popular modern and pop singer; Mr. Simon Dhungana, ANA President 2009-2010; and Mr. Tunganath Upadhyaya, well known composer, poet and lyricist.
After a tough competition, the third prize of PS3 went to Gunjan Upadhyaya for her singing talent. She performed the song “Chahana Sakiyo Bahana Sakiyo”. Pragya Bhattarai won the second place winning IPad3. She performed “America’s Most Wanted Remix” dance. The first grand prize went “Texan Nepali Group” comprising of six girls raised in TEXAS but very much NEPALI in their hearts – Angeli Adhikari, Binivaa Manandhar, Meha Mishra, Richa Kafle, Sarisha Malla, and Serene Pandey. The girls performed their self choreographed skit and won over the audience and the judges.
The SUPERNOVA contest was first of its kind in the history of ANA Convention and with the great participation and enthusiasm from the kids group, it is expected that this contest will become an integral part of ANA Convention from this year on.
