After almost a month since the incident, the police arrested the man accused of throwing acid on two schoolgirls.
As reported by various news sources, police arrested Jiban BK, originally from Fulashi-8 of Ramechhap district, from his rented room at Tokha at 11:15 pm, Thursday (19 Mar 2015) as told by AIG Bigyan Raj Sharma, Chief Commissioner of the Metropolitan Police Commissioner’s Office (MPCO), Ranipokhari, during a press meet.
Metropolitan Police Commissioner’s Office, Ranipokhari, on Friday (20 Mar public 20-year-old Jiban BK (right) on the charge of carrying out acid attack on three schoolgirls at Basantapur on 22 February. Two seriously injured girls Sangita Magar and Sima Basnet are undergoing treatment at Kathmandu hospitals. The two students recently took their SLC examination from the hospital.
The convicted 20- year-old BBS student allegedly carried out the acid attack at Basantapur on the girls after his sexual advances were rejected and also due to soured inter-family relations. Right after the incident, BK was said to be in Sikkim to retrieve Rs 50,000 that he had given to a man who assured him of a place in the Indian army.
During the press conference BK was dragged by police through a crowd in the capital in a semi-conscious state.
