Popularly referred to as “Rai Is King”, singer Rajesh Payal Rai is one step closer to setting his record straight. The Darshan Namaste hitmaker was on his quest to get inducted in the Guinness Book of World Records as the only artist to have released three albums belonging to three different genres on the same day. And on April 10, Tuesday, Rai not only offered three but four albums!
The albums were launched at an event held at Hotel Everest, New Baneshwore where Chief Guests former Prime Ministers Madhav Kumar Nepal and Lokendra Bahadur Chand, along with the singer himself, did the honours.
The newly released sets are titled “Made In Nepal”, “Murchana 2”, “Jadow 3” each containing eight tracks and “Aasewaro”. “Made In Nepal” is a collection of patriotic songs while “Jadow 3” offers folk tunes and “Murchana 2” sees him churn out some modern (adhunik) singles. On the other hand, in “Aesewaro” which means “mero Namaskar” in Limbu, one can find songs of the very language.
However, it wasn’t just records that were presented at the function. Rai also launched a lyrics book titled “Rajesh Payal Rai Ka Swor Haru” whose contents are in Limbu language.
Later at the event, two music videos were screened; “Birshu Bhanchhu” from Murchana-2 and Jadau-3’s “Khau Kasam”. The singer also gave live performances of four songs, one from each album.
